On-the-job training (OJT) for De-suups and Livestock staff on NADPM & RCP

7 January 2022: As a part of the NADPM & RCP, the Department of Livestock and De-suung office in collaboration with the Dzongkhag administration and Regional Livestock Development Centres has started on-the-job training (OJT) programs in six Dzongkhags (Wangdue Phodrang, Mongar, Samtse, Samdrup Jongkhar, Sarpang and Thimphu) with eight clinics from 7th January 2022.

Currently, the ongoing OJT includes about 60 De-suups and 9 livestock staff undergoing the training in each clinic. The trainings will be provided in batches where each batch will be trained for a duration of 10 days each. The main objective of the OJT is to train about 2,500 De-suups in clinic management, animal welfare, dog catching and restraining, and 366 livestock staff in catch neuter vaccinate and release (CNVR) protocol by the end of 1st week of March 2022.

The OJT aims at skilling and generating the required number of manpower, both technical and non-technical,  for managing dog population management (DPM) clinics during upcoming 2-week nationwide NADPM & RCP which is scheduled to be conducted in March 2022.
