Strengthening Brucellosis diagnosis

During October 19-22, 2016, the Brucellosis research scientists from National Institute of Animal Health, Japan were here at National Centre for Animal Health, Serbithang. Dr Makoto Osaki and Dr Yuichi Ueno from the Japanese Institute are the experts on Brucellosis. They were here through collaborative research work on Brucellosis. The collaboration is aimed at strengthening diagnostic capacity for Brucellosis at NCAH. The collaboration also includes exchange of visiting scientist between the two institutes to learn more from each other. The four days visit was spent on introducing three diagnostic methods for diagnosis of Brucella infection: culture technique, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and milk enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Once National Laboratory at NCAH becomes proficient with these three diagnostic methods, the test methods will be extended to other laboratories in Bhutan in future
